Questions

Getting started

  1. 01How do I get started?

Create an account, as a parent or guardian or as an adult learning for yourself. Choose a Scholar, then book a free trial or start weekly Classes straight away. How it works

  2. 02How does the free trial work?

You book a 25-minute Class with the Scholar you choose, at a time that suits you. There is nothing to pay. Each learner can take up to two free trials, so if it does not feel right, try another Scholar.

  3. 03Do we have to take a trial first?

No. A trial is a good way to meet a Scholar, but you can start weekly Classes with any Scholar straight away.

  4. 04Can one account cover my whole family?

Yes. A parent or guardian holds one account and adds each learner to it, and one wallet pays for every learner’s Classes.

  5. 05How does my learner sign in?

A learner under eighteen signs in with a code you give them, not an email address or password of their own, and you can replace it at any time.

  6. 06Can adults learn too?

Yes. Every programme is open to adults, whether they are starting, or returning, at whatever level they are.

Programmes

  1. 01What programmes are there?

Four, each taught one to one: Nazrah & Deen Basics, Hifz, Arabic Language and Tafseer.Explore the programmes

  2. 02Which programme should I start with?

Start from where the learner is. Nazrah & Deen Basics builds reading from the first letters, Hifz is memorisation, Arabic Language is the language itself, and Tafseer is for those who read and want the meaning. Not sure? Ask the Scholar in a free trial.

  3. 03How long is a Class, and how often does it meet?

Each programme sets how long its Class runs and how many Classes a week it needs; both are on its page. You agree your weekly times with your Scholar, and the Classes keep to them.

  4. 04How do I enrol in a programme?

Choose a Scholar who teaches it and book a free trial if you would like one. Then agree your weekly time; each Class is paid from your wallet when it is booked.

Scholars

  1. 01How are Scholars checked?

Every Scholar passes five checks before teaching: identity, a background check, qualifications, references and a reviewed test lesson. Each is signed by the person who made it, and a Scholar is listed only when all five are.Trust & safety

  2. 02How do I choose a Scholar?

Each profile shows where the Scholar studied, what they teach, the languages they speak, their hourly rate and when they teach.Find a Scholar

  3. 03Will you match us with a Scholar?

No, you choose. Search by programme, language, price, qualification and years teaching, and read each Scholar’s profile before you book.

  4. 04What is an ijazah?

A certificate given by a Scholar who holds one, confirming that the Scholar recites, or teaches, as they were taught, with an unbroken chain of Scholars behind it. You can filter for Scholars who hold one.

  5. 05Do Scholars teach in my language?

Each Scholar lists the languages they teach in, and you can search for Scholars by language.

  6. 06Can I try a Scholar first?

Yes. Book a free 25-minute Class with the Scholar you choose. A trial is never required: you can start weekly Classes straight away.

  7. 07How can I become a Scholar?

Apply to teach with NoorQuran. Before your first Class you pass the same five checks as every Scholar: identity, a background check, qualifications, references and a reviewed test lesson. How to become a Scholar

Classes & progress

  1. 01Who can see my learner in a Class?

Only the Scholar, the learner, and you as their parent or guardian. Nobody else can enter.

  2. 02Can I sit in on Classes?

Yes. Once your learner has joined a Class, you can join it from your own account and sit in with them.

  3. 03How do I follow my learner’s progress?

After every Class the Scholar writes a report: what was covered and what comes next. You read it in your account.

  4. 04Are Classes recorded?

Yes, to keep learners safe, and you agree to it before your first Class. A recording is kept for 30 days, then deleted. For now only NoorQuran administrators can watch it, never the Scholar. How recordings are kept

  5. 05Can a Scholar message my learner?

No Scholar can send a message to a learner under eighteen. Messages between a family and a Scholar are checked for safeguarding concerns and for contact details being shared.

Safety & privacy

  1. 01How do I report a concern about a Scholar?

Write to complaints@thenoorquran.com. If the concern is about a learner’s safety, write to safeguarding@thenoorquran.com instead, so it is seen first.

  2. 02What happens after I make a complaint?

We acknowledge it within 24 hours and answer within 5 working days, or up to 15 for a complex case, keeping you updated. If you are not satisfied, you can take it to our Board of Directors. How complaints work

  3. 03What happens if a Scholar breaks our standards?

Their check can be withdrawn. They leave the directory at once, every Class of theirs still to come is cancelled, and the full amount held for each goes back to the family’s wallet.

  4. 04How is my learner’s information protected?

A Scholar never receives your email address or phone number from us, and your learner signs in with a code you give them, not an email or password of their own.Our privacy policy

  5. 05Can I ask you to delete our information?

Yes. Write to contact@thenoorquran.com and we answer within one month. Records needed to protect a learner are kept while that need lasts.Your rights

Paying

  1. 01How do I pay?

You top up a wallet in your account, and each Class is paid for when it is booked. There is no subscription.

  2. 02How much does a Class cost?

Each Scholar has an hourly rate in US dollars, agreed when they join, and that rate is the price. A 55-minute Class costs exactly that rate, with nothing added on top, and you see the price before you book.

  3. 03Does the free trial cost anything?

No. A trial is free, and nothing is taken from your wallet for it.

  4. 04What if my Scholar cancels?

The full amount for that Class goes back to your wallet.

  5. 05What if I need to cancel?

Cancel 24 hours or more before the Class and the full amount goes back to your wallet. Closer to the start, half the price is charged.

The best answer is a Class: your first is free.

Twenty-five minutes, one to one, with a Scholar who has passed all five checks. You can sit in.
