About our Scholars

  1. 01How are Scholars checked?

    Every Scholar passes five checks before teaching: identity, a background check, qualifications, references and a reviewed test lesson. Each is signed by the person who made it, and a Scholar is listed only when all five are.

  2. 02What is an ijazah?

    A certificate given by a Scholar who holds one, confirming that the Scholar recites, or teaches, as they were taught, with an unbroken chain of Scholars behind it. You can filter for Scholars who hold one.

  3. 03What does a Scholar’s rate include?

    The hourly rate is the price, in US dollars, with nothing added. A 55-minute Class costs exactly that rate, and you see the price before you book.

  4. 04Do Scholars teach in my language?

    Each card lists the languages the Scholar teaches in. Choose a language above to see only those Scholars.

  5. 05Can I try a Scholar first?

    Yes. Book a free 25-minute Class with the Scholar you choose. A trial is never required: you can start weekly Classes straight away.
